53 year old male patient came to me on 15/11/16 for Psoriasis since 18 months. Despite allopathic treatment it was spreading all over. His hands & feet were affected the most. Due to the cracks in the fingers he could not eat or take a bath properly. There was pus & blood coming from the cracks in the feet, due to which he was unable to walk without pain. He would get fever often, he would scream with pain & his room would smell because of the offensive pus. In 10 weeks’ time, this patient who was house bound, has started working. His hands & feet have become normal (as shown in the pictures), thanks to Homoeopathy. Who says Homoeopathy is slow ??? See pictures below.

Side effects of Laxatives

How often you have a bowel movement varies. Some people pass upto 3 stools a day & some may pass 3 stools in a week. Also you may have stools which are difficult to pass because they are hard, dry or small. Before opting for laxatives, try these lifestyle changes to help with constipation:-
1. Eat fiber rich foods such as wheat bran, fresh fruits, vegetables & oats. Also include beans, sweet potato, popcorn, almond, walnut, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, whole grain bread, pear, plum, berries, flaxseed, brocolli in your diet.
2. Drink plenty of fluids daily.
3. Exercise regularly.
Despite doing all this if constipation continues, go for homoeopathic medicines--because taking laxatives long term have the following side effects:-
1. Milk of magnesia can cause bloating, cramps, gas etc.
2. Isabgol can cause bloating, cramps. It can also increase constipation if not taken with enough water.
3. Dulcolax can cause belching, diarrhoea, rectal irritation & dependence.
4. Laxatives interfere with your body's absorption of some medications, vitamins & minerals. They can also cause electrolyte imbalance, esp after prolonged use. Electrolytes include calcium, chloride, potassium, magnesium & sodium. These regulate a number of body functions. So electrolyte imbalance can cause abnormal heart rhythms, weakness, confusion & fits.
5. Your body gets used to the laxatives & you will need higher doses.
6. Your intestine is a muscle & it will lose its tone.
7. People generally have the impression that Ayurvedic laxatives are safe, which is a myth. They can cause stomach pain, diarrhoea, dehydration & dependence.
